Bio

Avram Dumitrescu was raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland and born in 1976 in Jersey, the Channel Islands. He attended the University of Ulster at Belfast, earning a bachelors degree in Visual Communication and later a Masters in Applied Arts.

While working on his advanced degree, Dumitrescu began illustrating Northern Irish towns for the Ulster Tatler magazine. His paintings were collected by the UTV collection, one of Ireland's most extensive and distinguished corporate collections.

Dumitrescu came to America in 2005 when he married journalist Megan Wilde. Since moving to Far West Texas he has taken part in a number of solo and group exhibitions. He illustrates for clients such as Gastronomica: The Journal of Food and Culture, the Writer's Magazine and the Desert Candle. He teaches as an adjunct professor at Sul Ross State University and is a Scientific Illustrator for the Center for Big Bend Studies. This summer, his illustrations will be published in a book by Joan Reardon about culinary writer, M. F. K. Fisher.
